Merry Christmas!

December has been crazy at MMS.  But, let me tell you some really impressive art has been created!
There are 15 Scholastic's artists to brag on!
Folks that didn't think they were good at art, did.
6th graders have been in Greece.
7th graders have been busy creating Tesselations & crafts & duck tape weavings!
8th graders have been creating Retablos....art in honor of someone
as well as art about them.  We've been making a meaningful mess.

I'm sitting at home enjoying coffee, music and a moment of quiet before the chaos.  I hope you all enjoy the break.  I'm looking forward to a creative & motivated New Year.  I am thankful for a job I love and for students that keep me on my toes.  Merry Christmas everyone!

Beginning 6th Grade 5B

Tyler's details & patterns look great!  Excellent "ARTISTIC PATIENCE"

Cole's candy design looks great!  Check out that realistic hand.  Good job.

7th Grade Continuing 4B

Kaylee's Shadow Sketch.  This is so cool...it looks like she was drawing on lined paper.  Well done!

Ansley made spilled M&M's look great.

Pebble's Tree & Window.  Well drawn tree :)

Alexys drew a simple window with a strong composition!

Continuing 7th Grade 3B

Athena's Line Design.  Ya'll just draw big shapes, overlap, fill with big bold designs!

Renee's free create! "OWN IT!" Don't be scared to draw people!  They don't always have to be realistic.

Jacob's name design.  This sketch shows me a little bit about what is important to Jacob. Make your art meaningful!  That "B" looks great!
Julianna's Shadow Sketch.  Simple shape, nice composition, strong shadow!

Lydia's window.  Nice shading & designs.

Continuing 8th Sketches 2B

Welcome to a NEW YEAR!!

Hi Students, Parents & Supporters of Art at MMS!

I'm super excited about a new year :)
Top 5 things I like about being an art teacher:
1--I really love creating art, and get to be a part of that every day!
2--I love kids, they are witty, creative, funny, and so so talented!
3--I have a great art room, and an awesome view at the best middle school!
4--I love finding random materials & seeing what can be created with them.
5--I love how every ones art looks different...and that everyone can be an artist!

What I loved about summer:
Spending time with my family!  My spunky 4 year old Charlotte and my 4 month old boy baby Pax kept us busy and smiling!

About Me:
1--See above!
2--I am an artist too :)  You can see my art at www.ebmillerart.com I love creating new art & being a part of art festivals and art shows. I hope to keep you up to date about events I know of on here.  And if there are events you would like me to share e-mail me at ebmiller@wsfcs.k12.nc.us

Let's have a creative, respectful, fun & art filled year!  I can always be reached via e-mail!  Check back often & subscribe via e-mail to get blog updates!

On blogging....and life....

Okay. So, this was the first year of this blog. As always, the intentions are great, and the follow through could always be better. So, for next year....
1) Pictures need to be clearer. Gotta upload them from the camera, not phone.
2) Could there be someone in each class/grade that updates the blog? That way it could be more frequent? There is SO SO much that could be bragged about all of the time!

Why are you planning next year, you ask?
Only 8 more school days until I'm out 'till the end of the year! I'm having a baby boy in 3 or so weeks. See you the last week of school!
