Continuing 8th Grade...

September in Studio 406....

PURPLE ribbon folks!!!!!

So, this means that MMS got the judges choice award for the middle schools in Forsyth County! This is a big deal and we are UBER exCiTEd for our artists!!

What I love most about this exhibit is the theme and variety of projects. Mrs. D, Mrs. Mullen and I had a good time pulling it together.

Make sure you visit the Dixie Classic Fair to see for yourself! :)

ART is an illusion....

... making you see what I want you to see. Artists are inventors.

And, today the Advanced 8th graders and B-day artists had the priveledge of hearing Mr. Joh Harp speak. Mr. Harp had an inspirational message of following your crazy ideas, and living the life of an artist.  Artists create because they love it. You can't avoid the desire to create. Mr. Harp shared some of the impressive masks that he has made while sharing the process. Art links to chemistry. Art sometimes takes months to come to completion. Art sometimes requires a team. Art is a process!

Can you guess which 7th graders is in the last pic?

Honoring MMS's JONAH Hammett

These students had Jonah on their mind and in their thoughts at 6:30 am today!

This week has been Childhood Cancer Awareness Week at MMS. Students have bought ribbons for $1.  The money is going to LillysFoundation in Jonah's name.  Students have also kept family members and other kids effected by cancer in their minds this week. Cancer is mean. But, MMS has a big heart and is doing their part. Check out that rhyme!

The 8th graders quickly decided that face painting needed to be involved!

My little helper, Charlotte loved passing out the ribbons.

NOW, THIS IS COOL Ya'll! There was a BEAUTIFUL rainbow this morning. WOW!

JONAH, MMS has you on our mind today.  We are impressed by your fight and your spirit.  Keep fighting. FIGHT hard.  Be strong.  And, know that you are LOVED by MMS.

This is just a small glimpse of the day.  Folks were dressed in yellow.  Folks had on baseball jersey's and baseball hats. Faces were yellow.  And, $___ (update coming soon) was donated to cancer research by the kids, parents and staff at MMS.
